Directions to trailheads begin in downtown Platoro. Trails are normally open from ~ May through ~October depending on snowfall and hike elevation. All hike durations are based on the author’s moderate hiking pace of approximately 2.0 miles per hour on flat terrain. Durations do not include rest brakes, picture stops, lunch, etc. Hike time can be drastically affected by elevation gains, hiker condition, weather, etc. so the stated times are simply rough order of magnitude estimates to provide some idea of the time required to complete a hike.
