Platoro to Rock Lake

Directions to trailhead- Travel south 6.7 miles on the Conejos River Road #250. Turn west on Saddle Creek Road #105 and proceed approximately .3 miles to a concrete bridge, cross then continue 0.2and turn right onto Lake Fork Ranch Road. Follow Lake Fork Ranch road .4 miles then turn right immediately before the Lake Fork Ranch entrance gate and travel .1 miles to the trail head. From the trailhead head north stay east of a fence line that protects the private property of the Lake Fork Ranch to the west. Directions- From the trailhead (RL1 - N37 18.384 W106 28.961) head N and follow the trail .3 miles looping around a hill and over the top of the mountain and then down the other side to a pedestrian crossing in a fence line (RL2 - N37 18.617 W106 29.151). After crossing the fence line continue .3 miles until the trail intersects with a gravel road (RL3 - N37 18.654 W106 29.400). Turn right on the gravel road and continue .7 miles to Rock Lake (RL4 - N37 18.967 W106 29.942). Total round trip distance from the Rock Lake trailhead to Rock Lake is ~1.5 miles and ~1.0 hours at the author’s moderate pace. Note: Continue north on the trail along Lake Fork creek from Rock Lake to Big Lake to extend the hike another 1.75 miles or ~ 40 minutes.
